A LEGAL challenge to the backpacker tax could face hurdles to prove the tax violates international treaties, a taxation law professor says.
Irish firm Taxback is taking legal action against the Federal Government over the 15 per cent working holiday visa tax introduced this year.
The company claimed it discriminated against foreign workers in contravention of tax treaties Australia has with Britain, the US, Germany, Finland, Chile, Japan, Norway and Turkey.
