THE president of Mildura Pride has praised Member for Mallee Andrew Broad for stating his commitment to upholding his electorate’s “yes” vote.
In a speech to the House of Representatives yesterday, in which he spoke on the Marriage Amendment Bill, Mr Broad admitted he found it “difficult” to fulfill his duty to the people of the Mallee.
“I believe this change robs the future children of Australia for generations to come – but I will fulfil my duty,” Mr Broad said yesterday.
Mr Broad has openly supported the current Marriage Act being upheld and backed a same sex-marriage plebiscite, but said before the result of the same-sex postal survey he would honour the majority vote in the Mallee.
