Compliance measures needed in water trade

Re: Peter Crisp's letter (Sunraysia Daily, December 4), why don't you and Andrew Broad insist that Barnaby Joyce as Water Minister, insist that any federal water money being allocated to the states, is on the basis that all extractions be metered, at the point of extraction, and that metering data be transmitted on a live basis to a central monitoring point (ie. every 15 minutes the same as moisture monitors operate).

That central monitoring point be programmed to raise an alarm so that the irrigator is immediately contacted if there is no signal received.

South Australia is holding a Royal Commission out of frustration, because other states are simply not fair dinkum.
