Thumbs-down for party boozing

BOOZY office Christmas functions are a thing of the past, according to new ­research from VicHealth.

The 2017 survey of more than 2000 Victorians showed more than 65 per cent said it was unacceptable to get drunk at a work Christmas party, and just 20 per cent thought it was acceptable to drink with the intention of getting drunk.

VicHealth chief executive Jerril Rechter said in the lead-up to the festive season it was important for employees to drink in moderation to avoid damaging their health – and their reputation around the office.

“Getting boozed at your office party could leave you with more than a big hangover,” she said.
