SUNRAYSIA managed to escape the record rainfall that deluged parts of the state and delivered Melbourne’s wettest day in two decades.

Mildura received just 26.2mm of the previously predicted 60 to 120mm rain from Thursday to yesterday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

However, duty forecaster Michael Halfpenny said the rain was enough for Mildura to surpass its average December figure of 25mm.
