Lochie O’Brien and Jarrod Brander are officially AFL-listed footballers after last night’s AFL national draft in Sydney.
Midfielder O’Brien was selected at pick 10 by Carlton, while key position player Brander went to West Coast Eagles at pick 13.
South Mildura’s O’Brien’s outstanding foot skills and running power won him plenty of favour throughout his junior career with the Bulldogs and then the Bendigo Pioneers.
He particularly impressed last year for Victoria Country as a bottom-ager playing on the wing, but endured a frustrating 2017 campaign that included some form dips and a knee injury that dogged him in the middle part of the year and kept flaring up.
