Paying for puppy love

SUNRAYSIA residents have been discouraged from buying pets as gifts this Christmas before consulting the giftee first.

Mildura Council acting local laws co-ordinator Matthew Collins said owning an animal was a significant responsibility, so it was important to make sure gift recipients were up for it.

“You don’t know how many animals coming in this Christmas may be last year’s Christmas presents,” he said.
