A 27-YEAR-old woman has been given 16 months jail for stealing from an elderly Wentworth woman more than three years ago.
The offender was arrested in Mildura and extradited to Dareton police station late last week over a theft that occurred in 2013.
Police said the woman tricked an elderly woman to gain entry to her Wentworth home, saying she needed to use the toilet.
She borrowed $10 off the elderly victim and stole a key to the home.
The woman returned to the victim’s home hours and stole her handbag and $74 cash.
DNA evidence led to the woman’s arrest in 2015. She was later charged but failed to appear at court.
The woman pled guilty to the 2013 theft at Broken Hill Local Court.
The sentence included a 10-month non-parole period.
