MILDURA Deputy Mayor Ali Cupper has suggested Member for Mallee Andrew Broad does “a bit of soul searching” and relax his “opposition” to same-sex marriage, following the result of the postal survey yesterday.
Cr Cupper said federal politicians’ next step was simple – amend the Marriage Act to allow people in same-sex relationships to get married.
Mr Broad previously supported the current Marriage Act being upheld and backed a same sex-marriage plebiscite, saying the government needed to honour its election commitment of giving Australians a say.
