Joey makes game look easy

IT was only his fourth game of cricket after picking up a bat to help a struggling junior outfit, but onlookers might have thought Joey Sherry had been playing for years.

The St Joseph’s College Year 10 student smashed a game-high 62 off 51 balls for Workers Gol Gol’s under 16s side in their 17-run loss to Settlers at the weekend as the club’s seventh and last batsman – putting on a 71-run partnership with Ned Torpey (a much more reserved 14 off 79 balls) to fall just short of victory.

Workers Gol Gol’s Joey Sherry is the Sportspower Mildura Junior Player of the Week.
