Remembrance Day in Red Cliffs: Horror of war to the fore on a solemn day in town

ABOUT 40 people laid poppies at the Red Cliffs’ cenotaph on Saturday as part of the town’s Remembrance Day service.

Irymple-Red Cliffs RSL sub-branch and Military Museum president Ted Roberts, who oversaw the ceremony, said there would never be enough emphasis on how terrible the Great War was.

“If you don’t remember and you don’t bring it out to the younger children, all these things can happen again,” he said.
