Changes could cut power bills

Network tariffs for Victorian power distributors have been approved by the national regulator, potentially saving households up to $69 next year.

The 2018 reductions will help offset other factors in the market which are placing upward pressure on retail prices, such as increases in the wholesale cost of generating electricity, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) says.

The AER’s figures set out the total revenue that distributors can recover from consumers to ensure they pay no more than is necessary for a safe and reliable electricity supply. However, any savings will depend on the retailer passing on the reduction.
