Decision time for recovery target

THE Federal Government’s assistant water minister will consider approving a reduced water recovery target in the northern Murray-Darling Basin.

Under the Murray-Darling Basin Authority’s (MDBA) proposed new target, 70GL less water would be recovered from agriculture in northern NSW and southern Queensland under the basin plan.

The proposed changes include minor tweaks the MDBA believes will enable “effective and consistent implementation” of the basin plan.
