Messini’s cup delivers Lilley treble

BOLINDA trainer Brent Lilley capped off a big night by taking out the $30,000 3SH Swan Hill Pacing Cup with his classy pacer Messini on Saturday night.

Lilley achieved a winning treble on the program as he also won the first two races with Loveisamyth and his promising trotter Kyvalley Vice, who has now won six of his 19 career starts.

The first Country Cup for the 2017-18 racing season was an entertaining affair as there were no shortage of moves during the racce.

Lucky Lombo, Egodan, John Of Arc and Our Jericho all took turns finding the lead inside the first lap of the 2790m event.

Our Jericho overraced out in front while his stablemate and short-priced favourite Ideal Success raced outside him and had to do a lot of work in the run, while reinsman Anthony Butt bided his time near the rear of the field with Messini.
