Hospital receives $156,000 to boost security: Safety base

AN increase in anti-social and aggressive behaviour has prompted the Victorian Government to inject $156,000 into Mildura Base Hospital, to ramp up security and further protect staff, patients and visitors.

The funding boost will be used to employ an additional 2.8 full-time equivalent security guards who will patrol the hospital grounds, diffuse violent situations and escort staff to their cars when required.

Member for Mildura Peter Crisp said it was unacceptable that hospital violence had reached that level.
