Workers on the job with opening win

WORKERS started their Mildura Basketball Association men’s Premier League title defence on the right note with a 55-43 win over Hawks on Wednesday night.

Steve Bowden dropped in 12 points and Nick Kandris 10 as Workers overcame a slow start to eventually wrest control and finish comfortable victors.

Hawks scored the first six points of the match before Workers got back into it.

A basket by former Mildura Heat coach 

Jason Spratt ensured the Hawks took a two-point lead into the first break but in the ­second quarter Workers turned it around to hold a four-point lead at half-time.
