Sheep tagging gaining traction

THE Victorian Government says it will work closely with the agriculture industry to implement the electronic identification of sheep across the state.

The Opposition’s spokesman for Agriculture and Deputy Leader of the Coalition Peter Walsh has criticised the government’s implementation of the electronic identification tagging system in Victoria.

Mr Walsh said farmers have no idea how much they will be charged to comply with the scheme next year. 

Victorian Acting Minister for Agriculture Jacinta Allan said the roll out of the electronic tags by the state’s sheep industry had been smooth.
