Call to keep camping free

PARKS Victoria has been warned not to mess with one of the bonuses of living in rural Australia – the enjoyment of camping.

A management plan is now being developed by Parks Victoria, which aims to guide the protection of much of Victoria’s River Red Gum floodplain parks, reserves and wetlands.

However, concerns have been raised that the plan may include the introduction of camping fees on areas of public land, in particular along the Murray River in areas that have traditionally been freely available to camping families.
