Merbein South fast bowler Luke Coates is trying to join Sunraysia Cricket Association powerhouse Mildura Settlers for family reasons.
The 21-year-old dual Willowfest Express fast bowling competition winner and former South Australian under 19 representative had a clearance put through on Thursday to leave Chaffey Park for the triple reigning premiers, where older brother and Setts’ first-choice gloveman Josh has been a key player in the past two successful campaigns.
“I’ve got nothing against Merbein South,” Coates said.
“It’s just the family side of it.”
