THE Sunraysia dried fruits industry is trialling an autonomous weed sprayer after receiving a $1400 innovation grant from Dried Fruits Australia.

Merbein dried fruit growers Stephen and Malcolm Bennett are trialling the vehicle, they have called “The Path Finder” on their property.

The machine is linked to a computer and uses similar software as drones and a GPS.

“It is a bit of a test vehicle to see if we can get something that can operate in a vineyard,” he said.
