Friendship, help, support – it’s all sewn up

A NEW ladies sewing group in Ouyen is fostering friendship and goodwill in the small, rural community. 

Ouyen Sew For Charity co-ordinator Sue Gilchrist formed the group in January out of a need for more women’s social groups in the town. 

“We’ve got a lot of recently retired ladies who were sort of looking for something to do,” Mrs Gilchrist said. 

“Some of the ladies hadn’t used their sewing machines for a long time.
