Vet clinic puts worms to work

Five Sunraysia initiatives have been named finalists in the Keep Victoria Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards.

After entering the awards for the first time this year, Mildura Veterinary Hospital is in the running for the Resource Recovery and Waste Management Award, for its environmental business practices.

Veterinary nurse Leander Barnden said staff had established a worm farm about 12 months ago to reduce landfill waste and due to its success, this year upgraded to a much larger farm with more than 5000 worms.
