DAREBIN have “sharpened up” ahead of today’s VFL Women’s preliminary final against St Kilda Sharks, Mildura’s Melissa Hickey said.
The Falcons kicked 2.9 in a 25-point loss to Diamond Creek in the second semi-final last Sunday, but the mood of the playing group on the training track remained positive this week.
Hickey felt Darebin were “reactive” to a change in game plan from Diamond Creek, who “outsmarted” them last weekend, but the loss gave the Falcons an opportunity to reflect on how they had been playing.
She said the Falcons – who were minor premiers with a 12-2 record, finishing ahead of Diamond Creek on percentage – would stick to what had worked for them this season in today’s game.
