IN Sunraysia Daily (September 12), Member for Mallee Andrew Broad said the Federal Government was committed to the review of the Murray-Darling Basin and it appeared “to have some teeth”. I attended the MDB plan meeting in Griffith on September 12. The aim appeared to be showing the status of the environmental portion and leading to government approval of this stage of the plan by the end of this year.
In Griffith, there were four people presenting concerns that the economic portion of the so-called triple bottom line was causing huge losses to irrigators.
There is a by-election imminent for the NSW electorate of Murray and the Murray-Darling Basin Authority will be a hot issue.
