SUNRAYSIA world champion wakeboarder Bec Gange experienced the full brunt of nature as one of the Australians caught up in the destruction of Hurricane Irma, which battered the US state of Florida on Sunday night.
In the days since the category 4 storm, Ms Gange has had to face waves of a different kind as one of thousands of people affected by heavy rains, violent winds and the threat of floods, storm surges and tornadoes.
Ms Gange, who is based in Clermont, Florida, for six months of training, was forced to bunker down while Hurricane Irma crossed the Florida coast.
