Submarines won’t protect Australia

I had to laugh at the cartoon in Sunraysia Daily on August 30, depicting Tony Abbott as the Australian defence shield against the North Korean missile.

This sort of shield would be about as useful as submarines to protect an island country like Australia in the 21st century.

Now if Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was to approach North Korea and offer to buy some of Kim Jong-Un’s missiles they would be a lot cheaper than subs and give greater protection to Australia.

As it has already been proven with Russia and the US, if you have missiles no other country will attack you.

In this era someone sitting in a command post will fly a drone which will drop a torpedo that will hunt down a submarine and destroy it and then sit back and have a cup of coffee.
