A CLEAN sweep of the penultimate Australian Super Bike Championship at the weekend in Sydney has Mildura’s Josh Waters within striking distance of the championship lead.

Following his double victory, the Team Suzuki Ecstar rider sits second in the standings on 220 points, six adrift of New South Welshman Troy Herfoss.

Twenty-nine riders went into qualifying with Waters executing his plan to perfection – building his pace and setting the fastest time of 1.30.197 on his ninth lap of the session to secure pole – with the next eight riders registering a time less than a second behind him.
