VOLUNTEER CFA brigades across Sunraysia have missed out on more than $20,000 after the CFA lost a contract with Mildura Council to provide fire extinguisher and hose reel maintenance.
A source within the CFA, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Sunraysia Daily the move was a “big blow” as the service was one of their main forms of fundraising.
The brigades affected include Mildura, Meringur, Murrayville, Ouyen, Robinvale, Manangatang and Nyah Nyah West.
CFA manager of fire equipment maintenance John Lloyd confirmed the brigades had lost a “lion’s share” of work with the council, which instead went to a national company.
