Leave time boost on way

THE Sunraysia Trades and Labour Council has welcomed proposed changes to long service and parental leave entitlements.

Minister for Industrial Relations Natalie Hutchins said a new Long Service Leave Bill would stop parents being discriminated against and losing hard-earned long service leave.

Currently, if an employee takes more than 12 months unpaid parental leave they lose continuity of service and any accrued long service leave entitlements.

Sunraysia Trades and Labour Council yesterday said it was pleased with the minister for making workplace entitlements more equitable.
