MELTON reinsman John Caldow continued his top run of success at the City Oval Paceway by recording a winning double with Flojos Gold and Pearlescent at the Mildura trots meeting yesterday.
Pearlescent, who is owned by Caldow’s wife Maree, was having only her second start for Ouyen trainer Malcolm Retallick in the Tankard Dental 3YO Pace.
Pearlescent had achieved two third placings from 11 starts when prepared by Maree, but she proved she will be suited to racing in the northern region by bringing up her first career win.
The top local mare Flojos Gold continued her winning form with a dominant victory in the Ritchies Stores Pace to defeat Beachstar, who ran an improved race, with Fortitudo finishing a gallant third.
