DODGY operators who exploit overseas workers are continuing to ruin the reputation of those who are attempting to do the right thing.

That was the message from Mildura International Backpackers hostel owner John George after hearing that two female backpackers had fallen victim to an unregistered accommodation provider and labour-hire contract company.

The two women worked up to 16 hours a day, went unpaid for some of it, and were not provided payslips by the man who recruited them to work in the horticulture industry.
