Winter rain arrives

FARMERS across the Mallee are relieved the start of August has brought some welcome rain.

Agriculture Victoria’s seasonal risk agronomist Dale Grey says the weather models he has been studying appeared to be split between dry and average rainfall conditions for the next few months.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology up until 9am yesterday morning, 20mm of rain had been recorded so far this month at the Mildura airport.

This compares with 5.8mm of rain being recorded at Mildura during the first two months of winter.
