SUNRAYSIA residents will need to get a handle on their shopping habits with supermarket giants Woolworths and Coles implementing a ban on single-use plastic bags.

The move will completely phase out lightweight plastic shopping bags at the two stores before June 30 next year, and includes others in the Woolworths Group such as Big W, Dan Murphy’s and BWS.

Woolworths Group chief executive Brad Banducci said the phase-out, driven by customer feedback and the group’s commitment to the environment, would begin shortly.
