IF you are open, take the shot.
That has been one of Mildura Lady Heat coach James Madigan’s catchcries this Big V Division 1 women’s season.
On Saturday night, Georgia Mayne heeded that advice in the most dramatic of fashions to bring her side back from the brink.
With the Lady Heat trailing by one point, Mayne stepped up and knocked down a clutch three-pointer from the wing with just four seconds remaining to put Mildura up 89-87 at the Hothouse.
After a timeout, the Chelsea Gulls had one final shot as time expired but missed to hand the Lady Heat the win, sensationally after trailing by as much as 19 points during the first half.
