Some SFNL clubs say rules for junior players should encourage participation, rather than focus on winning or losing.

A NUMBER of SFNL clubs say they would back the introduction of a mercy rule across junior footy grades, with many club presidents agreeing that losing by massive margins only drives young players away from the sport.

The issue was raised this week after a decision by the Victorian Football League to cap score margins across the Riddell District Football league (RDFL).
