LOWER Darling farmers are frustrated at a lack of detail surrounding a plan to change the Menindee Lakes’ operating rules.

NSW submitted proposed changing the lakes’ operating rules and building a new regulator as part of a broader package of water saving projects designed to help recover 650GL of water under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

But it’s feared the rule changes could make the supply of water to the lower Darling, which is again expected to run dry before the end of next year, even less reliable.
