Grandparents leave a mark

NOT every family can claim to have inspired three Australian geniuses.

Last week when ABC Television gardening presenter Jane Edmanson OAM was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in the Queen’s Birthday honours she joined her cousins Melbourne University’s leading academic in global health Dr Nick Crofts AM and Dr Caroline de Costa AM, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the College of Medicine at James Cook University.

The three are grandchildren of Irymple residents, the late Charles “Charlie” and Violetta Crofts, who left an indelible mark on their grandchildren and inspired a commitment to helping communities.
