LESS wheat and barley is expected to have been planted across Australia this year, but farmers in the Mallee are still expected to keep to their traditional crops.
The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) has released its Australian crop report for the 2017-18 season.
It predicts this season’s winter crop production will fall by 33 per cent to 40.1 million tonnes compared to last season’s estimated yield of 58.9 million tonnes.
