MILDURA has the second highest rate of indigenous offending incidents across the state, according to the latest Crime Statistics Agency data.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people account for 32.2 per cent of all alleged offender incidents in the Mildura local government area, while the state average is 6.3 per cent.
Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) CEO Rudolph Kirby said a rise in the representation of Aboriginal people in the region’s crime statistics primarily reflected the growth in the region’s indigenous population.
