MURRAY-Darling Basin water ministers will consider a suite of supply measures to offset further water recovery when they meet in Canberra this week.
The ministers’ meeting comes after the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) endorsed their pathway to implementing the Murray-Darling Basin Plan – including a further analysis of the plan’s socio-economic impact – at the end of last week.
The socio-economic analysis is expected to determine how an extra 450GL “upwater” can be recovered, taking the plan’s water recovery total to 3200GL by 2024.
