Cancer robs Australians of more years of life than any other disease, according to a new analysis.
A report released on Wednesday by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) shows while its burden has lessened, cancer has the biggest impact on the nation’s health, accounting for one-fifth of the burden.
“This is calculated in terms of years of life lost due to early death from cancer, as well as the years of healthy life lost due to living with the disease,” AIHW spokesperson Michelle Gourley said.
