THE Murray Darling Basin Authority has released a video to celebrate the success of a national program which has significantly reduced salinity levels along the basin by removing up to 500,000 tonnes of salt each year. 

The Salt of the Earth video was launched at the Mildura Field Days yesterday and recognises the achievements of all those involved in the salt interception scheme along the Murray Darling Basin. 

The salt interception program involves using pumps and engineering techniques to divert groundwater and drainage water away from the river system.
