DARETON police say the spate of recent break-ins in the area are due to residents leaving their homes and vehicles unlocked.
Detective Sergeant Dennis McLaughlan said the problem could be easily avoided.
“We just want to make people feel safe and if we keep getting reports of burglaries and break-and-enters, it doesn’t send a very good message to our community of the greater Sunraysia,” he said.
“It’s not like thieves are kicking in doors to get inside homes, they get in because doors are left unlocked.”
