The former dried fruit grower and school teacher raised his son in an idyllic rural setting in Sunraysia’s horticultural zone after years spent living and working in a grey city.

He rearranged five titles on his land in preparation for his retirement, intending to build a house for his now adult son on one block, sell another and live off the proceeds at the Koorlong house he has called home since the late 1980s.
