WENTWORTH’S Jarrod Brander has been selected in the Allies squad to take part in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships beginning in June.
The key position player, a top prospect in this year’s AFL draft, starred for Greater Western Sydney (GWS) in their recent Under 18 Academy Series campaign, where he participated despite being ruled ineligible to be drafted under the academy system after Wentworth was removed from the GWS zone.
Brander and highly rated Charlie Spargo (Riverina) are among a host of former academy prospects who will no longer be tied to GWS through the academy bidding system in this year’s draft, although Giants academy coach Jason Saddington said the pair would still continue to be supported by the academy.
