Fuel tanker in collision

It’s obviously quite a serious accident ... it nearly killed the bloke so they were very lucky

Police say a ute driver is lucky to be alive after a collision in Murrayville on Monday afternoon.

A 58-year-old South Australian man was driving a fuel tanker along Danyo South Road about 4.30pm when he allegedly failed to give way at a cross intersection.

The tanker and a ute travelling along South Road collided and the 56-year-old male ute driver was flown by air ambulance to Melbourne with head and spinal injuries. The tanker driver walked away from the smash and police said it was lucky the other driver was not killed.
