Doctor part of rural push

A LOCAL doctor has been accepted into a national program aimed at helping doctors in regional locations expand their medical careers.

First year registrar Dharminder Singh pictured, who works at Mallee District Aboriginal Services, joins 30 doctors across Australia who were selected for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS), which enables them to further their skills while remaining in their regional or remote community.

“My goals are to become a GP so it will help me get the training I need with the support of an appointed supervisor who will assist throughout the three-year program,” Dr Singh said.
