Warning for chickpea growers

CHICKPEA growers in Victoria and South Australia are being encouraged to monitor their crops for ascochyta blight (AB) infection.

The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) said this season all chickpea crops were now rated as either susceptible or moderately susceptible to infection in both states.

According to Agriculture Victoria, the fungal disease is usually first noticed in late winter when small patches of blighted plants appear throughout the paddock.
