A HANDFUL of mothers decided to forgo the traditional breakfast in bed yesterday and instead gave back to the community by joining in Landcare’s Trees for Mum event at Red Cliffs.

Working their way along Jacaranda Street, mothers and their children spent quality time together while re-vegetating the township by planting more than 200 trees and shrubs.

Mikayla Mcgowan-Rickard felt the event was not only a unique way to celebrate Mother’s Day, but a chance to teach her nine-year-old brother Dylan about the importance of being an active member of the community.
