ABOUT 20 wine grape growers in the Murray Valley were able to increase the price a Sunraysia winery offered them for their fruit this vintage after appealing their inital offer under the industry’s voluntary code of conduct.

Murray Valley Wine growers executive officer Mike Stone told an industry forum at Irymple on Thursday the winery’s decision to increase the price it offered the growers who appealed demonstrated the process worked.

He said the group of Sunraysia growers had not been happy with the prices the winery offered them for mainly cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and sauvignon blanc.
